For Marketers: Things You Need To Remember When You Fail In Marketing

Yes, we have read so many articles on how to be successful in the marketing industry, and effective strategies that can boost the reputation of you and your business. But have you ever thought that not all the times you are going to be on top? Always remember that not all the times things are going to be on your way. Even marketers who are working in a well-known digital marketing agency also fail.

We all do fail at some point. But sad to say, not all marketers continue to dream big for their career. Failure makes them want to quit. And we all do know that quitters would definitely not going to be successful. However, if one can be inspired by this article, then it would definitely give them some motivation to continue and strive more.

And if you are one of those marketers who face struggles in the marketing industry, remember, you are not alone. There are so many marketers who also feel the same way you feel. So, if you have to be one, below are some things a marketer should remember when you fail in marketing.

You're not helpless

It is a fact that we fail – sometimes. Yes, we may fail to foresee the things that came on your way, that is because there might be loopholes in your strategy which makes it fail. But it doesn't mean that we are helpless in any way. Feeling helpless would result to being inferior to the people around you. You feel like you are not capable of doing something that can make the situation easier or better. You feel like other people are better than you and you are not.

If you happen to feel these ways, then you better stop it. Feeling such will only give you more and more discouragements in your career. And mind you, you will not grow when you tend to feel and think that way. So, you better stop. Think positive.

You're not the only person who feels this way

Again, for thousands to millions of marketers around the globe, you are one of the marketers who experience failure. Of course, successful and influential people also fail. But the good thing is that they don't dwell on the failure. They stand, pause, think, strategize and plan for the better. When you fail, there must be another way going to success. It may be hard on your part sometimes, but it is worth the effort.

Think of a person who inspires you to be a marketer. They fail too. But think of the things that particular person will do if he/she is on your shoes. With that, you will have an idea of the things that might help you solve the bad situation you are in.

No one's career is a straight ride to the top

Always remember that there are no shortcuts to success. If you want to be successful, you need to take it step by step. There might be times that you experience dark moments in your career, but I'm sure it is only going to be a temporary thing to experience – that if you are also determined enough to stand and continue to strive hard for success. But if you lack the right attitude towards the problems you faced, then success may not be for you.

Achieving a successful career may be a challenge. But mind you, it is going to be worth your time, money, effort, sacrifices and other things you invest just to be on top. And I'm sure, success is going to be a wonderful thing to have.

You're not too old

Sure you are already in your late 30s or 40s, but it is not yet too old for you think about the best strategies you can ever implement on your career. In the marketing industry, age doesn't matter. For as long as you are still capable of thinking, work and/or delivering your task properly, then you are not too old for being a marketer. Whether you realize it or not, there are successful marketers who are already old in their age but not too old to work.

Although being a marketer is not for all, but it doesn't mean you are not qualified to become one. Again, for as long as you have the right attitude towards the things around you, then you can be a good and successful marketer.

You don't know what other marketer's lives are really like

Success is a challenging thing to achieve. And every successful marketer strives hard just to achieve that success. However, you just don't realize it yet that there are marketers who went a lot of pain, struggles and other things that can make them quit in the marketing industry, but didn't. You don't know, your problems that you face now are nothing compared to the worst situation most marketers experience.

Although there are also times that you feel that you cannot do it anymore, perhaps, you just need to take some time to break. Take a good and relaxing vacation and don't think about your career just yet. Let your mind rest and wander first. With that, you will eventually realize that taking some time to pause can also be helpful to think better and a calmer tone. Moreover, as a marketer, every problems or trial can be solved if you just know how.

Social Media Etiquette: Don't Hit The Post Button Just Yet!

Have you ever tried to pause and think before hitting the post button? Or even trying to re-state your content before posting it? Or perhaps, you belong to hundreds of people who just don't care about what they post? Remember, it is not just about posting. Social media is also about being rational in every approach you make. Even an online marketing agency knows so well that the content you post on social media can make or break you.

Generally, people do not care about the things you post online. But you also have to remember that the activities you do online reflect on who and what you are. If you tend to post irrational or nonsense content, then people will think you are an ignorant person. Eventually, they will lose respect for you. And I'm sure you don't want people will label you as such. Right?

Sad to say, not all people are educated on this matter. As a result, more and more people are being careless on the things they do online. If you don't want to be irresponsible for every post you make, then below are the questions you should ask yourself before you hit the post button.

Am I seeking approval?

One of the most rewarding feelings, when we post something interesting, is that red flag are popping up to notify you that someone is giving you attention. And sometimes, it's addictive. When you feel like you wanted to have that feeling again and again, then perhaps, you are seeking their attention and approval. It's not a bad thing at all. In fact, people will most likely wait for your next interesting posts. But before anything else, it is a must for you to consider a healthier post and scrap the idea of posting unhealthy ones. In that way, you will please more people with the posts you have.

Am I boasting?

There's a thin line between sharing excitement and bragging. Unfortunately, not all of us know the difference of both. And as a result, most of us brag about something that we have. Before you post, you have to go over your content and examine your motivations first. If you think that people don't care about the things you flaunt online, then you might be bragging about it. However, posting something that can grab the interest of your readers is another thing. And if you don't want to annoy your readers, you have to have a good judgment on your motives and words.

Am I discontent?

Whether you agree with me on this or not, social media will never give you contentment. The more you receive praise from your audience, the more you are motivated to post more content. It's a cycle. If you feel like you are looking for something better for your well-being, then social media is not the answer. The posts you will read can only make or break your day. Yes, you might get some advice from your readers, but it's just it. It is on your own will to be motivated by doing things that make you feel satisfied inside and out. Well, I suggest, if you are discontented, you better walk away from social media for the mean time and find yourself in serenity.

Is this a moment to protect?

Social media is a jungle. People strive to be noticed by their audience. Of course, competitions are all around you. And these competitors will try to steal something from you and make it as their own. If you are a kind of person who values privacy, then it is your responsibility on whether or not to post something that is valuable for you. Yes, people know you as a good person who also posts good and interesting topics. But at least, you are not giving them all the information about your life. Protect what's yours, and you will not have any problem at all.

Is it kind?

This is one of the things most of us forget to consider. Remember, social media is not your diary where you can freely post any rants. Some of us here even pots curse words, which is definitely a no-no. Yes, we have a freedom of expression, but you also have to remember that what you post online reflects of who and what you are. And if you don't want people will label you as someone who is not educated enough to post something stupid, then you have to think again if it's kind and for the betterment of all mankind. If not, then stop!

Do you know that being a marketer is also stressful? Although some situations are considered minor for some people, but for marketers, these minor things can already make a great impact on their career if not taken care of immediately. Like any other jobs, working as a marketer is not a joke.

Whether you like it or not, marketer's role is not for everybody. There are certain qualifications that make up a good marketer – which sometimes leads to marketer's physical or mental pressure. And if you can't take serious pressures, then you probably are not fit for the position.

Marketers also worry. Of course, it is a normal thing to experience even if you are not a marketer. However, there are certain things you probably don't know about what makes a marketer stressed out. Well, you'll find out below:

1. Access to capital

We all do know money is very important. You cannot do business when you don't have enough money for your capital. And it's not all the times that marketers can keep the cash flow to pay their bills and workers. There are even times they seek help from loans just to keep their business going. And this is one of their financial concerns.

2. Pending promises

The promises made by the marketers are very vital. It Can make or destroy their career. If they lie on a particular promise, or even if it is a simple or minor situation that marketers was not able to manage the said promise, this might not be a good idea to retain a good reputation of their company. Of course, they are the face of their respective companies.

3. Making decisions

Like committing to promises, making decisions are also vital to marketers. Even making the smallest decision, it can change their entire career. Whether their business will grow or a failure, it will all depend on the decision making of the marketer. And mind you, overthinking can also cause some fatigue and can negatively interfere with your mental health.

4. Staying strong as leader

Being a leader can sometimes give you a satisfying feeling, but with the sense of responsibility. As a marketer, you should not show your weakness to your co-workers or employees. Yes, it is normal for you to feel that way since being a leader can also mean pressure. But if they see you weak, they will labelled you incompetent and not fit for being a leader. If there are anything that troubles you, it is also your duty to remain calm, positive and contained when it comes to the decision that you are going to make.

5. Clients

One of the reasons why marketing business is going strong is because of the clients. Without any clients at all, it is impossible for the business to grow and continue. And we all know that not every day clients are on its way to conduct some marketing transaction on your business. It is also one of the many things most marketers tend to think about how they are going to make and engage more clients on their business.

6. Nailing a presentation

As a marketer, you have so many things that you need to think of aside from having the presentation. And it is their struggle to organize a messy situation.  The presentation conducted by the marketer can close a deal. Of course, if it's clearly and properly presented. If not, then say goodbye to your clients.

7. Retaining great talent

Marketers know that they cannot do business on their own; they need someone or a team for them to boast a business. And let's admit, choosing the right person with the right capability is hard to find. And with hundreds to thousands of people who are willing to work with you, only a few are worthy of your trust. Not to mention marketer's competitor who is also willing to get what you have, it is also their responsibility to build a good tandem between the marketer and the employee, to avoid any departures or resignations.

8. The unknown

Doing business also means taking a risk. Even if you are not a marketer, doing business will take some of your time, effort, and money. And if you are not careful in handling situations that can ruin your career, then doing business might end up in failure. Facing these unknown or unexpected situations that might come on their way is also a challenge. That is why, marketers also have their back on up plan whenever something is going to be out of its place.

When you enter the world of marketing, you have to expect that all things are not permanent. You have to know that business will eventually make a bang when it comes to its sales. And you also have to know that there are also times a business will become slow and might reach rock bottom. However, it will always depend on how you are going to handle situations that can change everything in your career.

6 Ways Successful Marketers Overcome Uncertainties

Whether you like it or not, being uncertain is one of the common feelings we, marketers usually experience. Of course, there are just times that we don't feel confident, especially when it comes to the things that are not on our line of expertise. And doing such might be hard on our end, which leads us to deal with different uncertainties on our work.  Basically, if you are a professional marketer and is working in a digital marketing company in the Philippines, being uncertain with your own work is definitely a no-no!

Yes, being uncertain is a normal emotion we usually feel, but we definitely can avoid these kinds of feelings which hinder the productivity of our work. Avoiding these is not that hard as you think it is, for as long as you have the right discipline when it comes to your approach on the circumstances that you face, then being uncertain has no place on our mind.

However, if you are one of those marketers who are still struggling when dealing their certainties on their work, below are some ways most successful marketers do to overcome it. And yes, it is definitely doable on your end.

1. They replace expectations with plans

One of the reasons why we are uncertain on the particular thing is that, we don't know what will be the outcome of our work. Basically, if you don't have any plans on the things that you need to do, there is nothing to expect at all. Of course, things might become difficult to deal with later on. If you want to be certain of the things that you want to do, then come up with a good and effective plan. That is for you to be certain of the outcome that you want to have.

2. They stay positive

Yes, you already have a good and effective plan, it is just normal for you to think about the unwanted possibilities that might come your way. However, if you are just positive about it and think that it will turn out to be a good and successful plan, then you will also feel positive vibes that you will definitely get the outcome that you want to have.

3. They are prepared for different possibilities

One of the most difficult parts, when you face uncertainties, is that you don't have anything that backs you up. With that, dealing with unwanted situations is definitely be one of your worst nightmares of your career. Yes, you might feel uncertain with the things that you do, but if you have prepared something that can save your plan, then you'll definitely be ok.

4. They focus only on what matters

Multitasking can be helpful on marketer's end. However, there are also times that doing multitask is not going to be applicable on your work since you need to focus on one particular thing, and that alone in order for you to effectively and successful work out your plan. If you focus on one thing, there will be least of uncertainties that might come your way since you carefully plan in advance on the things you need to do when this and/or that happens.

5. They don't seek perfection

Even if they are already successful in the field of marketing, they all know that they still have the need to learn more every single day. Of course, every day is a learning experience. That is why, they don't ignore every change that they have just to have a knowledge on that particular matter. And if they think that there is someone who is better and/or knowledgeable than them, they don't feel insecure about it, instead, they also want to learn something from that particular person.

6. They don't dwell on problems

Marketers definitely know that one way or another, they will eventually experience problems in the process of doing marketing. However, they also know that in every problem that they might face, there will also be a solution that they can apply to a specific problem. Of course, they don't stick or dwell with it. Instead, they try to solve it and move on to the next phase of their marketing career.

Why Digital Marketers Need to be a Great Observer?

Practice the art of observing – but seriously, how? That is one of the dilemmas marketers usually face. And even if you are an expert in digital marketing, there is no guarantee that you have already perfected the art of observing. Technically speaking, being observant is already part of our nature, whether you are a digital marketer or just an ordinary person. However, for marketers, being observant is one way to spot the weakness of their competitor and use it as their advantage. Well, that's the perks you can get when you just know how to observe.

Being observant is not a bad thing as you think it is. In fact, we humans have been very good observers. We tend to use our five senses just to observe a particular thing. And it is a good trait to jump-start your day. Basically when you observe, you watch and listen to someone carefully. You also have to analyse their behaviour and their approach toward digital marketing strategies. Of course, there will always be a reason behind the things they do. And when you sort that out, then you will eventually understand as to why they behave and do such thing.

As a digital marketer, being observant is a crucial thing to do. Of course, you definitely don't want to stare at your competitor for hours and ask them a direct question, without even realizing that you are crossing the line. That is definitely a no-no for you to do! You have to know the basic of observing for you to survive in the marketing industry. And there are actually a lot of ways you can observe other digital marketers. That is, of course, in a professional way.

And let's admit! Some of us here just don't realize it yet that they have been observed while others don't know that you have been observing them secretly. When you start observing someone, you become more curious about what they do. What kind of approach and/or strategies they used to have a successful marketing, and how they cope with the difficulties in attaining their desired outcome? The more curious you are, the more answers you want to know. And I'll tell you, it's addicting.

Before entering a digital marketing agency, you have to be aware that you will be dealing with thousands to millions of marketers around the marketing world. You have to be prepared and equipped with enough knowledge on how you are going to be on the top rank than the others. Of course, it is one of your top priorities if you want to stay longer in the marketing industry. Moreover, your actions, strategies and/or approach towards marketing can affect your career if you are not aware and careful enough on the things you do.

When you observe, there will be a lot of questions that will come to your mind. The questions with What, When, Where, Why and How. But do you know the most important question is the WHY? Why do they use that particular approach in a particular situation? Why do they have to do this instead of doing this? The more you ask yourself why, the sharper you are when it comes to observing. You are not contented with the answers that you have and you tend to seek more. And that is one of the qualities of a digital marketer should have – not being contented on the strategies that have applied and tend to seek more for the betterment for their clients.

Of course, it doesn't just end up with asking questions. Basically when you are a marketer, there will be a lot of jargons and/or languages that only marketers know. And usually, they communicate in a non-verbal form. That means, if you don't know what they are talking about, you'll definitely don't get and understand what they want to imply. Well, this is the perfect time for you to practice your observing skills. Observe how they talk, how they use their eyes and/or any other gestures that could mean anything.

Why is there a need for us to observe? Simple. To cope with the things around us, to be human and learn what humans learn. And if you are a marketer, it's an important thing for you to do to learn what other marketers do.
